Beatpace plans your runs on your iPhone. A few specific things leave the phone, each for one reason, and all of them are listed on this page.

What stays on your iPhone

Your race plans, your profile (height, goal times), the results of your library scan, and every playlist you build live in a local database on your phone. Playlists you save go into your own Apple Music library. Voice cues you record are audio files in the app's local storage. There are no accounts, and Sacrifice Golf, LLC cannot see any of it.

During a library scan, Beatpace reads details like play counts, last-played dates, and genres to rank songs for you. Those details are read locally and never sent anywhere.

Permissions Beatpace asks for

Beatpace asks for four permissions. Each one exists for a single feature, and the app works without the optional ones.

Apple Music

The core permission. Beatpace reads your music library to find songs at your running cadence, and creates new playlists there. The permission prompt says it directly: Beatpace reads your library and creates playlists at the BPM that matches your running cadence. Without it, the music half of Beatpace cannot work; race planning and run cues still can.

Microphone

Only for recording your own voice cues: "run" and "walk" in your voice, or in a voice you love. Recording happens when you tap record, the audio file stays on your phone, and it is never uploaded. If you never record a cue, the microphone is never used.

Speech recognition

After you record a cue, Beatpace transcribes the recording to suggest a title for it. Transcription is done by Apple's speech recognition, which can process the audio on Apple's servers depending on your device and language settings. If you skip recording, nothing is ever transcribed.

Photos

Add-only access, used to save generated playlist artwork to your Photos library when you save a playlist. Beatpace cannot browse, read, or see your photos. The permission only allows adding new images.

What leaves your iPhone

There are no accounts and nothing that identifies you as a person. This is the complete list of network requests Beatpace makes, and what each one carries.

Song tempo lookups

To find each song's tempo, Beatpace sends song title and artist name pairs from your library to its own server. Over time, a full scan covers the eligible songs in your library, two text fields per song and nothing else: no play counts, no listening history, no identifiers. When a tempo isn't in the database yet, the server asks the Deezer music API about that title and artist; your phone never talks to Deezer directly.

AI text, when you use it

Three features generate text with Claude, an AI model from Anthropic, through Sacrifice Golf's server: playlist descriptions (the race, goal time, pace, cadence, up to 12 songs as title, artist, tempo, and length, plus a custom title or theme if you typed one), similar-artist suggestions (up to 10 artist names you picked), and themed mixes (the theme text you typed). Sacrifice Golf, LLC keeps a service log of description requests recording the race, times, cadence, and a song count. The log does not include your song titles or your custom title text.

Tempo reports you choose to send

When you report a wrong tempo, Beatpace sends the song's title and artist, the stored tempo, the tempo you tapped or typed, and a device-local song identifier that has no meaning outside your phone. Reports exist so wrong tempos get fixed for everyone. You can review and undo yours anytime in Settings under Reported tempos.

Popular-song and correction data

The popular-songs source sends tempo ranges, and for themed mixes up to 60 artist names, to fetch matching chart songs. The app also downloads a shared list of community tempo corrections. That one is a download only; nothing goes up.

Crash reports

If Beatpace crashes, a report goes to Sentry, a crash-reporting service: device model, iOS version, app version, and the technical trace of what failed. It is not configured to attach your IP address or any identity, and there is no name or account it could know.

Apple services

Searching Apple's music catalog for themed and popular mixes, and the speech recognition described above, are Apple services covered by Apple's own privacy policy.

What Beatpace never does

• No advertising, no ad identifiers, no tracking. The app's privacy manifest declares no tracking, because there is none.
• No analytics. The only third-party component in the app is the crash reporter described above.
• No accounts. The only profile of you is the one on your phone.
• Nothing is ever sold. Data is shared only with the services named on this page, only to do the jobs described.

Children

Beatpace is not directed at children. It has no accounts, no chat, no social features, and collects nothing that identifies anyone.

Changes

When this policy changes, the change lands on this page and the date at the top moves with it. If a future version of Beatpace ever sends something new off the device, it gets its own section here first.
